The Wild Robot

       Our family reads together every day. We just read a novel called The Wild Robot by Peter Brown. We think it is a great book that you might enjoy too.  There is a cool setting in The Wild Robot . It takes place on an island out in the ocean. There is a dark cave, a tall mountain, and a lush forest on the island. We think it happened in the future because there are robots and cool spaceships. The Wild Robot has some unique characters. Roz is the main character. She is a kind, smart robot who is shipwrecked on the island. Brightbill is a gosling who is Roz’s adopted son. There are also a lot of other animals like bears, moose, and beavers. Some more robots show up near the end of the book.  It is a funny and exciting book. One funny part is when Roz chases the gosling. Another funny part is when a fox gets porcupine spikes in his face. One exciting part is when bad robots come and go down a waterfall. Animal Reports

 Micah, Eli, and Olivia each chose an animal and completed research and a report about it. Micah chose polar bears because he loves them! Here is his written report: Polar Bears      The air is cold. There is a windy breeze. There out of the cold, snowy Arctic is a polar bear!      Polar bears are mammals. They feed their babies milk. They have clear outer fur, thick inner fur, black skin, and lots of fat to keep them warm.      Polar bears live in the Arctic region. The Arctic region is around the north pole. The polar bears live alone unless they have a baby. The north pole is cold and icy.      Polar bears eat fish and seals. The polar bear waits patiently by a hole in the ice. Then whoosh! A seal popped up from the hole to breathe. Then the polar bear gets his next meal.      Baby polar bears are called cubs. When the cub is born the mother bear digs a cave in the snow. Mom polar bears have one to four cubs at a time. They weigh about 1 pound when they are born. Cubs are three mont

Our Chicks

THE FLUFFY MYSTERY by Micah Raakman I hear a sound. Little black eyes looking around. I hear cheeping by the ground. Do you know what I found? Chicks!!!   We each wrote in our journal about our new chicks: Micah writes: We got chicks! Our chicks love to eat. And they look so cute. My chick's name is Ginger because she is brown. I used to have two brown chicks but one died.  😢 Chicks need:  1. water 2. heat lamp 3. food 4. box 5. bedding 6. perch Chicks are fun because I like to play with them. I also like chicks because they look so cute. When the chicks lift their heads up they look so funny. Eli writes: We got chicks. My chicks' names are Yellow and Clean. Chicks need everything. I like putting my chicks in my catcher. Olivia says: My chicks' names are Peck and Uni. You give them food and water and also bedding to cover up their poo and pee. Chicks are fun and it's fun to look at them and fun to play with them in my dollhouse.

The Best Place

 Our family has visited and lived in SO many places in the past few years:  Toronto, ON British Columbia Three Rivers, MI Sioux Center, IA Terra Ceia, NC Oak Harbor, WA Southern California and probably more that we are forgetting! Micah's job this week was to write a persuasive paragraph. Everyone in our family wrote their own persuasive paragraph about "the best place." What do you think is the best place?   My Pirate Treehouse  by Micah I went in my backyard and decided to build a tree house. But I wanted to be a pirate, so I made it a pirate tree house.  I needed a lot of supplies. First, I gathered some wood to build it.  The bottom is built out of wooden boards. Next I needed weapons. I decided to use black and silver paint to decorate my ship with swords.  It has lots of black and silver swords, And the bottom is built out of wooden boards. I have the best pirate tree house. Next I needed a plank to send any traitors off my ship. Also, for a pirate pet I’ll need a parrot that can talk. Now my ship has a plank to walk, And a parrot that can talk, Lots of black and silver swords, And a bottom built out of wooden boards. I have the best pirate tree house. If you want to learn more about Minecraft on youtube type Minecraft videos. There are lots of things to do in the game. The first thing in Minecraft is to punch a tree to get wood. You should also make a house or find one. The Minecraft world is full of different types of creatures. You can use sheep to make a bed. You can kill a pig too. Watch out for zombies!
